It’s easy sometimes to feel helpless. Especially, in light of the all the horror Tony Ortega’s bosses at Backpage were able to unleash in the few years their human trafficking operation was cashing in on selling women and young children for sex, leaving a path of human misery in their wake.
Today, however, the FBI is asking for your help in bringing justice to one Backpage pimp. His name is Jose Torres and for years he was running his own version of Backpage scam.

As court battle losses for Backpage and its malfeasance continue to mount before ‘the bosses’ own much anticipated trial, we can now add one more notable blow undermining Tony Ortega’s paper-thin defense of the whole Backpage criminal empire.
This week a Brooklyn man became the last of 19 people convicted for their roles in sex trafficking girls and young women in the state child welfare system, which included several girls from a residential treatment center.
The Internet has long been a marketplace for the sex trade, one where the now mercifully defunct website, Backpage was justly demonized as a hotbed for illegal activity, including child sex trafficking.
We’ve seen time and again how Tony Ortega and his pals defended Backpage, at times even picking very public fights bemoaning that their “constitutional rights” to sell women weren’t being respected.
We’ve also looked at the new crop of human trafficking sights which were seemingly inspired by Tony Ortega’s vile rhetoric surrounding the selling of children for sex for profit.
We recently reported that fifty women are suing Salesforce, alleging the company profited by helping Backpage to engage in sex trafficking.
Too long the story of Tony Ortega’s bosses and their worldwide human trafficking ring has lingered in the shadows, on the periphery of other news stories favored by the mainstream media.
Today we are happy to report this appears to be changing, as NBC news picked up the Salesforce story and has been bringing it to national attention.
We wrote previously as Editor-At-Large Tony Ortega from 2007 to 2012 oversaw the sleazy Backpage’s “posting rules” and “content requirements.” But Ortega went further by publicly attacking anyone in the press who raised questions about the Backpage’s roll as the country’s leading sex trafficking platform, referring to reports of rising rates of underage prostitution as “bogus information”.
“The actual data behind this ‘epidemic’ is wanting in the extreme,” Ortega wrote, following an “investigative” article, paid by revenues directly acquired by Backpage’s advertising sex for money scheme.

We’ve explained how helping sex traffickers and prostitutes avoid detection by law enforcement through their phony “posting rules” and “content requirements.” What is now being revealed in the various court cases in multiple dates underway currently is that the Backpage began “moderating” sex ads, which is the term they used for reviewing and editing sex ads on www.
