Why Has Tony Ortega Never Revealed a Crime?

In years since Tony Ortega began first harassing Scientologists, at times using underhanded and illegal means to do so, he has been very tight lipped about exactly how often he ignores state and federal laws in his pursuit of his blatantly false stories.

Since the Backpage scandal started to unravel, and the level of lawlessness of his co-worker co-conspirators began to be revealed to the public, Tony Ortega has never once exposed any act that would put his child-sex selling bosses (James Larkin and Michael Lacey) into criminal jeopardy. All this despite being a possible fact witness in the government’s case against the Backpage human trafficking syndicate.

Tony Ortega has exposed no criminal acts even though he was fired and sent packing by the very bosses now awaiting trial on a host of state and federal charges. Instead he has lied and distracted about his career as Propagandist-At-Large for the notorious Backpage flesh-peddlers.

So why has Tony Ortega never revealed a crime in the years since he was fired shortly before Backpage was raided and shut down?

Voices on the Internet have plenty of opinions on the matter, ranging from the “There was no crime” theory (fat chance there) to the “Mutually assured destruction” hypothesis which suggests Tony Ortega and his bosses have so much damning evidence on each other that neither side dare speak a word for fear all hell might break loose.

As tempting as Internet theories might be, we here at the blog tend to lean towards the one explanation which takes into account these clear and obvious facts: Tony Ortega is corrupt. Tony Ortega is broke. Tony Ortega doesn’t care about the Backpage victims.

In short, we believe they paid him off to keep quiet. Money has always meant more to Tony Ortega than telling the truth. And while we certainly don’t discount the suspicion that the Backpage bosses likely have more than enough dirt on Tony Ortega’s culpability, it is likely far easier and cheaper to pay off an unemployed moocher than to haul him into court for a messy, protracted trial.

Not that Tony Ortega is complaining. He’s quite happy to keep doing what he’s always done — keeping his fat mouth shut about his crimes, known and unknown.

Our bet is it’s the only reason he’s not in jail already.
