What Tony Ortega Should Really Be Apologizing For

Today we’d thought we might take a page from Tony Ortega’s playbook and offer up some real examples of things he might want to consider apologizing for before hyperventilating over his own invented outrage. Here are just a few:

Arielle Silverstein aka Bozuri.

Did Arielle Silverstein ever apologized to the members of the religions she viciously attacked while working for for United Nations?

Faking a story about rapes then when caught, doubling down on the lie.

Remember back when Tony Ortega tried to con readers with the thinly-veiled alias he invented, Antoine (Anthony) Oman (the O-man)? In a disgusting display of the sort of unethical journalism Tony has become known for, Tony Ortega falsely reported that NBC had signed two teenage rape victims to star in a reality series where they would be pitted against their actual sex offenders to see if they could once again survive rape. When he was caught, he doubled down on the lie and claimed ‘Antoine Oman’ had been fired. Fired how, Tony?! Antoine Oman never existed! To date Tony Ortega hasn’t apologized for either lie.

Fabricating false articles to defame, defraud and demonize people for profit.

How about that story from a while back of Bruce McMahan, a wealthy hedge fund manager and philanthropist, who Tony Ortega chose to plaster all over the headlines, branding him as a “daughter-seducer” bent on marrying his own child at Westminster Abbey? This story was so outrageously false only Tony Ortega could have published it. But did he apologize? Did he ever admit to inventing the whole story in order bring a little more chaos and division into the world, wrecking lives in the process? Of course he didn’t. He’s Tony Ortega, lies and division are his brand.

Working for the pimps, perverts and sex profiteers of Backpage.com.

Forefront to all Tony Ortega’s schemes, lies, and bad faith journalistic behavior is an episode which also happens to be the single most emblematic of who Tony Ortega truly is at his core. We’re talking of course of his one moment in the national spotlight, when he had the attention of the whole country and used it to promote the selling sex with children and at risk young women to improve the bottom line of his company masters.

What say we start with apologizing with a few of these violations of the public trust, Tony Ortega, before you start jumping down the throats of those with enough spine to own up to the mistakes they made.
