Ortega’s Words Come Back To Haunt Him

Tony Ortega Backpage Apologist

Yesterday we suggested that Tony Ortega, and his fellow band of henchmen, are long overdue to receive comeuppance for their misdeeds for aiding and abetting Backpage during the horrific run of its illicit human sex trafficking crime spree.

We reported to you how a federal grand jury issued yet another judgement against one of the same pimps Tony Ortega told us we were all “hysterically worrying’ worrying over.”

To even broach the subject of the Backpage back-alley sex empire is enough to earn Tony Ortega’s ire. In his view, caring about the victims of Backpage is tantamount to inciting ‘moral panic’ in order to frighten people.

Judges across the country are showing the nation what we here at the blog have long understood – that Tony Ortega is nothing more than a two-bit liar.

As the U.S. Department of Justice ruling shows us, the new convicted Backpage pimp Romello Lee was found guilty of using Backpage to advertise a 14-year-old and a 16-year-old.

Does Tony Ortega believe this shouldn’t be charged as a crime?

After all, Ortega went to great pains to try and convince the country Backpage was a legitimate platform for ‘consenting adults’, and would bully and intimidate anyone who dared say otherwise.

Perhaps the enduring record of Tony Ortega’s own words have finally come back to haunt him?

Just as they have for the pimp sentenced on Monday. The jury in that case saw several ads Lee posted to social media and text messages between him and one of the girls. Some of those texts detailed his control of the dates she was forced to go on and showed proof of the beatings she took if she didn’t meet her nightly quota.

As we hinted at yesterday, the judgement in this case was both just and severe.

U.S. District Judge David Hittner sentenced Lee to serve the 480 months, or 40 years, in federal prison, according to records. Once released from prison, he will be forced to register as a sex offender and remain on supervised release for the rest of his life.

And we think the punishment fits the crime.

As Special Agent in Charge Perrye K. Turner of the FBI said of the case:

“Too many of our children are falling victims to sex trafficking and predators like Romello Lee… We hope today’s sentence sends a strong message to those who continue to exploit our youth, but we also hope it sheds promise to sex trafficking victims waiting to be rescued.”

We agree with the FBI in this matter. Too many children are falling victims to sex trafficking predators.

And we also hope that this sentence will send a strong message to those who continue to exploit our youth, just as we hope it will strike fear into the hearts of those who would enable them.

Surely there are more judgements to come and we trust that they, too, will fit the crimes of those who committed them. And we hope that the Chief Backpage Apologists, Tony Ortega, won’t be exempted.
